Lynchburg Community Market is a community gathering place which offers the very best products from our region from farmers to local artisans to restaurants. Their annual summer program “We Got the Beet” features movement and cooking demonstrations as a collaborative effort between the City of Lynchburg, Central Virginia Health District of Virginia Department of Health, and Virginia Cooperative Extension. SNAP dollars can be used to purchase groceries at the Lynchburg Community Market.
Lynchburg Feeds helps people find nonprofit food pantries and other food programs in the Lynchburg area. Food pantries provide groceries to people, free of charge.
Lynchburg Daily Bread serves hot, nutritious lunch from 10:50 A.M. to 12:20 P.M seven days a week including holidays. They also have a food pantry in front of their building at 721 Clay Street.
CVACL offers multiple services for Seniors including Meals on Wheels, Health and Wellness, Transportation, Housing, Advocacy and Care Services.
Parkview Mission offers a variety of support. The Food for Families bi-weekly neighbor-choice pantry includes food and personal care products. Food for Thought sends a backpack of food home with students each Friday. Parkview Cafe provides a hot meal for take out every Wednesday from 4:30-5:30pm.
Lynchburg Grows is a seven-acre urban farm dedicated to providing access to fresh, local, produce for Lynchburg residents, restaurants, and organizations, while also providing purposeful jobs for individuals with disabilities.
Owned and operated by husband and wife team Michael Grantz and Arden Jones, Great Day Gardens in Forest has been committed to providing families in the Lynchburg area with healthy, biologically raised, and chemical-free produce and baked good since 2015. As a direct-to-consumer food hub, 4p Foods aggregates food from small family farms throughout the region and delivers it to households, offices, and community centers in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Restoration Acres is a local family-run farm supplies eggs, pasture-raised meats, vegetables, and bread. Available at the Downtown community market and elsewhere.
